What we do

Eradication of Corruption in Government Ministries and Directorates:

A glimpse into the monthly coordination meeting held for the MSI-AMANAT Project, which aims to combat corruption within the education, health, and agriculture directorates through social audits.

Building a Socially Empowered Environment that everyone accesses their basic rights:

The SCWO program team convened for a coordination meeting to facilitate and strategize the virtual training for human rights and women’s rights defenders, as well as social activists, funded by Counterpart International (CPI) in Kabul.

Promoting Peace and Understanding:

An overview of the quarterly meeting held in Charikar district of Parwan Province in 2018, as part of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) project, with the goal of enhancing trust between the government and local communities, as well as involving youth in monitoring government service delivery.

  • Fostering peace and understanding among diverse ethnic and social groups within Afghanistan and across regional borders.

Promoting Women’s and Human Rights

Mr. Niazwali Ahmadzai led a ToT session held in Panjshir Province in 2020 for the Public Outreach and Advocacy Committee aimed at advancing women’s and human rights.

  • Upholding national and international laws and conventions concerning human rights, especially in the context of post-regime change in August 2021.
  • Advocating for gender equality and the rights of women.
  • Supporting victims of illegal migration and migrant smuggling.
  • Advocating for social inclusion and fostering respect for human rights throughout the country.

WHERE WE WORK

Supporting the current Education system and vulnerable students, teachers, and Schools
  • Providing transportation kits to vulnerable teachers, supplying study materials for students, and assisting with school administration.
Contributing to Sustainable Development:
  • Engaging in initiatives aimed at sustainable development across various sectors within Afghanistan.
Encouraging Multi-Sector Partnerships​
  • Facilitating multi-sector partnerships involving civil society, government institutions, academia, media, and the business sector to address complex socio-economic challenges such as poverty and conflicts comprehensively.
  • Through these diverse activities, SCWO is dedicated to advancing its vision of a prosperous, equitable, and peaceful Afghanistan, where the rights and dignity of all citizens are respected and protected.

Agriculture and Livelihood

SCWO’s community mobilizer, Bin Amin, conducting beneficiary profile surveys to identify the most vulnerable households and farmers for the distribution of animal feed in Azra district of Logar Province in 2024.

Promoting Democratic & Civic Space through advocacy, research, and lobbying.

At the SCWO Headquarters in Kabul, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) session was held to synchronize ongoing election observation efforts and gather information on the handling and management of complaints by the Election Complaints Commission in Kabul Province in 2020.

  • Thematic election observation and complaints handling and Management of the Independent Election Complaints Commission (IECC) and Independent Election Commission (IEC).

Enhancing Trust and Conflict Resolution

The SCWO team participated in a Radio Round Table session, engaging with online callers to address their inquiries regarding basic rights and to reduce conflicts at a home level in July 2010.

  • Promoting legal education and conflict resolution to build trust between the public and government entities.
  • Promoting Afghanistan’s integration into regional and international networks, structures, and initiatives.
